PayPal Going Brick and Mortar

Recently PayPal began testing its POS (Point of Sale)  payment system in five Home Depot stores according to Reuters.  PayPal has been one of the largest online payment processors for years with over 100 million subscribers and users. Now they are focusing on brick and mortar real-world payment processing putting them in direct competition with the likes of Visa and Master Card.

Although the current testing is small, the goal is large. Optimistic experts opine that if anyone can make this work, PayPal may be the only one. With established brand recognition, it is estimated that PayPal can become the third largest off-line payment processor, after Visa and Master Card in just a few years from now. This has Wall Street analysts very excited about the prospect.
